School Uniform in the Waiting

The clock ticks softly, whispering time's gentle flow,
As I sit here, a quiet observer in this sterile room.
Children in school uniforms pass by,
Their laughter echoes, a distant melody,
While I wait, silently, with thoughts that roam.

The chairs are cold, yet offer silent comfort,
I watch the nurses, their steps purposeful and calm.
A child clutches a teddy bear, eyes wide with wonder,
Parents speak in hushed tones, hope woven in their words…
I listen, absorbing the unspoken stories around.

The air is filled with muted anticipation,
As moments stretch and contract in their own rhythm.
I glance at my watch, but time remains elusive,
In this space, where life and pause intertwine,
I let the minutes pass, allowing them their course.
